Waking up to Google

Maybe Google will replace Cision :) “, ponders Katie “KD” Paine. I’m pondering why she’s only pondering now. That Google threatens traditional media monitoring is not exactly news - and Katie, I’d hardly be unique if I suggested that Google, through Google Analytics, Trends, etc., is also a threat to traditional media measurement, and through a combination of search and GMail, GTalk, erm, Orkut, etc., is a threat to traditional media planning and distribution tools.

While Google is powerful, there are a whole host of web 2.0 services that promise disruption of traditional models. Cision is more than aware that we won’t be cutting up newspapers, comparing circulations and providing media directories forever. What’s happening underneath this current face of CISION.net is recognition of that. Want to know what it is? Keep lurking, and you’ll find out soon enough. But if you can’t wait, register your interest and we’ll tell you all about it.

Disclosure: if you’re wondering about that charming emoticon on Katie’s original post, I’m guessing it relates to her being the founder of Delahaye, a media evaluation business whose operations (and IP) are now owned by Cision.
